Hear from Our Clients

Bridget
Pathways to Progress

After the devastating loss of two family members, Bridget quit her job and moved. This led to what she calls “four years of turmoil, instability and homelessness.” Exhausted, Bridget entered Pathways to Progress, a Catholic Charities-St. Francis Community Services program that helps families break free from poverty.  Bridget then suffered the loss of her partner, murdered just as he, too, was putting his life in order. This time, her Pathways family was there for her in her grief. Bridget now works as a phlebotomist. She and her children have lived in the same house for six years, and she continues setting personal goals. "Keep pushing ahead on this pathway. As long as you do that, you will continue to progress."

Rebecca
Queen of Peace Center

Rebecca came to Queen of Peace Center homeless, pregnant, and seeking recovery from substance use disorder. There she received family-centered treatment and long-term support. “To say I was a broken human being is an understatement,” said Rebecca. “But thanks to this program, I was able to keep custody of my son, find purpose in my life again, and connect with other women who struggled the way I had.” Liam is now a healthy 3 year old. Rebecca started her own business and, most importantly, has healthy relationships with God and her family members.

Ryan
Saint Louis Counseling

When trauma, hospitalization, school issues, and struggles with guardians torment a teenager, finding a path to healing can feel elusive, if not impossible. That is no longer the case for Ryan. After seeing a Saint Louis Counseling therapist for about two years, he has re-established family relationships, made a friend, manages his symptoms and enjoys counseling. His teachers say he is a hard worker. Ryan’s story reminds us that the journey toward healing often begins by reaching out for help. Saint Louis Counseling responds with hope, regardless of a client’s ability to pay.
